Description
The Sentry Box (No 472) in Cambus O'May was built between 1956 and 1967, with later refurbishments. It is a square-plan timber boarded structure, measuring approximately 2 metres by 0.75 metres by 0.75 metres, topped with a cross-gabled zinc clad roof that features a central ventilator. The box is set on a concrete base and has vertical black painted boarding on the side and rear elevations. Each side has a rectangular panel inscribed with "BOX 472." The entrance features a flush panel door adorned with a moulded yellow winged interlaced "AA" livery, which dates back to the 1990s re-branding, along with a weathering fillet above. Yellow painted strips accentuate each corner of the box. The gablets are bargeboarded and also display the "AA" livery from the 1990s. Backlit square name panels reading "CAMBUS O'MAY" are located on the left side, while "BOX" is displayed on the front and side faces. Inside, the box is plastic-lined and includes a cupboard at the rear, as well as a disconnected 1-button telephone from 2002 located to the right.
