Description
Michael Kirk Lodge, located at Gordonstoun House, is a Gothic-style lodge possibly designed by W L Carruthers around 1900. The building features stugged snecked rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. It has a single storey and a dormerless attic, arranged in a cruciform plan. The symmetrical three-bay south front includes a central projecting crow-stepped gable, which houses a hoodmoulded door with a traceried fanlight and double-leafed Gothic panelled doors, along with a trefoil light above. The south and gable windows are hoodmoulded and feature Y-tracery, while small pointed-headed attic windows are present in the east and west gables. The upper lights have lattice glazing, and the gables are adorned with crowsteps and a cross at each apex. The lodge has three centrally placed diamond flues and a local slate roof with a stone ridge. There is also a wing at the rear.
