Round Square, Gordonstoun House

Round Square at Gordonstoun House is a late 17th century building designed in a circular plan around a central courtyard. It features a combination of rubble construction with ashlar dressings. The building is mainly two stories with lofts, although it originally consisted of alternating sections of four two-story blocks and four single-story blocks, all with lofts.

The northern block has a segmental-headed entrance at its center, flanked by four similar arches on the exterior, which are now blocked, and two arches on the interior. Above the entrance, there are five small bipartite windows on the first floor of the exterior, with three similar windows on the inner face. The fenestration is irregular, with small windows on the first floor, some inserted windows, and diminutive swept dormers featuring four- and twelve-pane glazing.

The building has corniced stacks, crowstepped gables, and a stone slate roof with a stone ridge, exhibiting irregular roof heights. Three exterior staircases provide access to the first floor.
