Description
Cumming House at Gordonstoun School is a residential school building designed by George Kennedy in 1939. It is a two-storey structure with 13 bays arranged in a U-shape. The building features weatherboard cladding and walls that are intentionally designed to lean outwards, resting on a concrete base course.
The central section, consisting of 9 bays, is slightly set forward and includes a square-headed entrance that leads into the courtyard. This entrance is topped by a jettied first-floor bay, supported by pilasters and featuring a shaped open pediment with a long window at the center. The tall first-floor windows in the advanced bays are adorned with moulded wooden architraves.
The eastern elevation has 9 bays, while the western elevation has 5 bays, both of which feature multi-pane glazing. The roof is piended and covered with wooden shingles.
