Salmon Bothy, Portormin Harbour, Dunbeath

The Salmon Bothy at Portormin Harbour in Dunbeath is an earlier 19th-century building that may have undergone partial interior refitting. It is a long, single-storey structure with three bays and crow-stepped gables, constructed from rubble.

On the west elevation, the entrance features a door at the center, flanked by a small window to the left and larger windows in the outer bays. The north and south elevations have blank gables with apex stacks, with the northern stack partly built into the headland. The east elevation includes two windows on the south side.

The building has timber glazing, with bars and shutters on the store. It features coped stone stacks and a slated roof that includes a cast-iron rooflight.

Inside, the bothy consists of two main compartments divided by a stone cross wall, both with flagged floors. The larger southern compartment serves as an equipment store and has a hearth in the southeast corner. The remaining domestic apartment contains two pairs of box bunk beds along the east wall, as well as a foreman's office and an additional bunk bed in the screened southwest quarter.
