Description
Middle Cottage, also known as Mrs Mackay's House, is a circa 1870 south-facing terrace of three houses linked to Tigh a Mhuilin at the western end. The two eastern houses are internally linked as a single dwelling, with the westernmost house also joined to Tigh a Mhuilin internally.
Mrs Mackay's House comprises three single-storey houses with attics, and three bays. The houses are constructed of rubble with tooled dressings, featuring centre doors. Three gabletted dormers rise through the roof, with four-pane glazing. The building has ridge and end stacks, and a slate roof. A modern single-storey, single-bay addition has been made to the east gable.
Tigh a Mhuilinn, dating to the late 19th century, is a single-storey and attic house with a slightly higher roofline and three bays. It is also of rubble construction with cast concrete dressings, a centre door flanked by bipartites, and bargeboarded dormers containing two bipartite windows that rise through the roof. It contains two-pane glazing, end stacks, and a slate roof.
The terrace faces south overlooking the Dunbeath Water and is part of a wider estate village. The properties are not numbered.
