Description
The building is a foundry located in Millbank, Thurso, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is a two-storey structure with a six-bay range, featuring long elevations on the east and west sides. A two-storey, single-bay wing projects from the southeast, which includes a forestair at the south gable that provides access to a first-floor gable loft entrance in the center. Additionally, there is a single-storey range extending from the north gable, which sits on a steeply sloping site to the west and has an irregular layout of ten bays. The entire building is constructed from rubble with rubble dressings.
The foundry includes some 12-pane glazing, with certain windows in the east elevation having been enlarged. The single-storey range has a truncated ridge and a west wallhead stack, while the two-storey range features end stacks. The roofs are covered with Caithness slate.
