Thurso Club, 6 Janet Street, Thurso

The Thurso Club, located at 6 Janet Street in Thurso, is a later 19th-century building featuring two storeys and an attic, with three wide bays. The front is symmetrically designed with a polished ashlar finish, which is channelled at the ground floor. The sides are made of rubble, with polished ashlar dressings and rusticated quoins.

The central bay is advanced and topped with a pediment. It includes a round-headed doorway that features a corniced and engaged columned doorpiece, leading to a panelled double leaf door. On either side of the entrance are rectangular bay windows with tripartite fenestration, supported by engaged pilastered jambs, cornices, and blocking courses. The outer bays on the first floor also have tripartite windows, with the centre window featuring a balustraded apron. All first-floor windows have moulded architraves and 3-pane glazing. There are three contemporary gabled dormers above, each with stepped triple arched lights, and bipartite windows in the first and attic floors of each gable. The building has corniced end stacks and a slate roof.

At the rear, there is a wing connected to a modern single-storey extension by a modern lean-to stairwell. The property is enclosed by coped rubble garden walls that flank both Janet Street and Brabster Street.
