96-98 Mid Street, Keith

This late 19th-century building at 96-98 Mid Street in Keith is a substantial two-storey and attic house with three bays, facing east onto the street. It features a southeast angle bay and a south gable, with the entrance to number 96 opening onto a lane. The front is made of tooled ashlar, while the gable and rear are constructed from harl pointed rubble, accented with polished ashlar dressings.

The central doorway is recessed, round-headed, and hoodmoulded, adorned with cable moulded detailing and a monogram above. The ground floor has segmental-headed tripartite windows, and the first floor features similar bipartite windows. There are three gabled dormers, with the outer ones flanked by stiff-leaf capitalled nook shafts as jambs to segmental-headed windows. The angle bay is corbelled out at the first floor and includes a window and a worn datestone. The glazing consists of two panes.

There is a corniced entrance in the lane for number 96, leading to a single-storey and attic, two-bay rear wing. The building has corniced end stacks and slate roofs.
