11 Whittinghame Drive, Glasgow

11 Whittinghame Drive is an asymmetrical arts and crafts villa designed by John Ednie in 1907, featuring baronial details. The building has two storeys, an attic, and a basement, with stugged polygonal ashlar walling, dressed quoins, and polished margins that have been stone cleaned.

The villa showcases irregularly placed iron-framed casement windows, mostly with small leaded panes, and some with stained glass panels. The projecting bays and windows are supported by corbelling or brackets. It has bold crowstep gables with skewputts, steeply pitched slate roofs, and tall chimneys.

On the west elevation, there is a prominent gabled bay to the left with a moulded tripartite doorpiece featuring a horizontally divided "stable" door and leaded sidelights. Above this door, decorative carved panels are supported by corbels that hold up the projecting bay. To the right, a two-storey bay has a four-light window on the ground floor, and there are pedimented dormers that break the line of the eaves on the first floor.

Other elevations are similarly designed with a strong use of corbelling. At the rear, there is a single-storey gabled service wing.

The interior is of high quality, retaining much original panelling and plasterwork. It features depressed arch roll-moulded fireplaces on the ground floor, linen wallpaper, and a Mackintosh-style screened staircase. The bathroom includes an original shower attachment. Decorative stained glass by Oscar Paterson is present in the hall and the tripartite vestibule door.
