Description
37 and 37A Newark Drive in Glasgow is a B-listed villa built between 1880 and 1890, showcasing the influence of architect Alexander Thomson. This asymmetrical, two-storey villa features deep-eaved slate roofs and is constructed with stugged coursers and polished dressings. The front has two bays, with the entrance recessed on the side. It includes pilastered mullions and pilasters that rise from the jambs. The left bay has mullioned windows, while a balcony with decorative cast-iron is situated between the floors. On the right side, there is a canted ground floor window, with paired windows above it. Most of the glazing consists of plate glass sashes. The property is enclosed by a stepped boundary wall that leads to the street, complete with piers.
