Dunard, 97 Ralston Avenue, Glasgow

Dunard is a symmetrical double villa built around 1870 or 1880, drawing inspiration from the work of Alexander Thomson. The building is two stories tall and consists of two houses, each featuring three bays. It is constructed of squared rubble with ashlar dressings, and has sash windows, corniced stacks, and broad-eaved slate roofs.

The central section is piended and wide, with two tall projecting gabled bays that are timber-framed on the first floor. There are recessed ranges on either side, with doors located at the angles, each featuring a timber-bracketted canopied porch. Each outer bay has a tall tripartite window on the ground floor, with a pilastraded window above on the first floor, which is accompanied by a stone-bracketted and iron-railed balcony.

The property is enclosed by a low boundary wall, which has been replaced on the left side by a hedge. The gatepiers resemble those found at Thomson's Ellisland, built in 1871.
