Description

13 and 15 School Street in Markinch is an early 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay flatted dwelling that has undergone later alterations and may include some earlier materials. The building features squared and snecked rubble with contrasting ashlar quoins, stone margins, and an eaves course, along with stone mullions.

The south elevation is symmetrical, with a boarded timber door at the center and later bipartite windows in the flanking bays. The first floor has a window at the center and bipartite windows on either side, all of which have been altered. The north elevation has windows in the outer bays on both floors, while the center is undergoing alteration. The west elevation is a blank gable with a blocked window in the gablehead. Large boulder masonry at the ground level suggests the incorporation of earlier fabric.

The south elevation features 6-pane upper and 2-pane lower sashes, while the rear has a 16-pane glazing pattern and plate glass glazing, all in timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped ashlar stacks with some cans, as well as ashlar coped skews with ropework scrolled skewputts.

Additionally, there is a coped rubble boundary wall surrounding the property.
