Description

7 Kirk Street in Markinch is an 18th-century house that has undergone some alterations in the 19th century. It is a two-storey, two-bay structure situated on sloping ground to the north and east, featuring harled walls with painted margins and stone cills.

The west elevation, which serves as the entrance, has a part-glazed timber door with a plate glass fanlight to the right at ground level. There is a window to the left and two additional windows on the first floor. A corner stack is located to the left, along with a broad gablehead stack.

On the north elevation, there is an altered window at the center of the ground floor, with a small window above it on the first floor. The laigh floor has four bays, including a low timber door to the right of center, a small barred window to the outer right, a window in the bay to the left of center, and another timber door to the outer left.

The east elevation features an advanced gabled extension on the left with windows on both floors. There is a timber lean-to porch in the re-entrant angle to the right and a window on the first floor.

Most of the windows are modern timber sash and case with plate glass glazing, including a top-opening window on the ground floor to the left on the north and east sides. The roof is covered with pantiles and has a slate eaves easing course. The coped, harled stacks include some chimney cans, with the northern stack extended in brick.

Additionally, there is a coped rubble boundary wall to the north of the property.
