Description
9 Kirk Street in Markinch is a mid-19th century building that originally consisted of two single-storey, three-bay cottages, which have been converted into one. The cottages are part of an irregular terrace situated on sloping ground that descends to the north. They are constructed from squared and snecked stone-cleaned rubble, featuring stone cills and an eaves course.
The west elevation has two steps leading up to a deep-set modern timber door located in the bay to the right of the center. To the right of this door are two windows, while three additional windows are positioned to the left. The windows are timber sash and case style, with a four-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there is a coped rubble stack on the outer left side, along with a new brick stack in the center. The skews are finished with ashlar coping.
