Description
Loretto School General in Musselburgh is a mid-18th century, two-storey mansion that is harled with raised margins around the doors and windows. The building has a U-shaped plan facing east, featuring semi-octagonal ends topped with semi-prismatic slate roofs. There is a three-storey, flat-roofed extension, slightly off-centre, which was added around 1870. The south front was remodeled in the early 19th century and includes a pediment with a chimney stack at the centre and urns at each end. This façade also features a semi-elliptical Roman Doric porch supported by two pairs of columns, along with semi-elliptical weathering and remnants of a first-floor verandah above.
