9 Linkfield Road, Musselburgh

This building at 9 Linkfield Road in Musselburgh dates from around 1840 and consists of a pair of semi-detached houses that are single storey with an attic. The houses are designed in an elongated U-plan and feature a ridge slate roof with cross ridges at each end, constructed from ashlar stone. The gable ends are finished with finials and are flanked by angle piers, each containing three-light canted bay windows topped with semi-facetted lead roofs on both ends.

Each house has a square flat-roofed porch located in the reentrant angle, which includes a door and a narrow window at the front. There is one bipartite window at the center of each house. A crenellated parapet runs along the eaves, except at the gables, which have crowstepped lean-tos at each end. The rear elevation features six windows, with gables that are flush with the main wall and three modern dormers. The front windows consist of single and double-pane sashes, while the rear and lean-to sections have windows with six lying panes. Corniced chimney stacks are positioned at both ends and in the center of the building.
