Bridge, Kilmarnock Water, Sandbed Street, Kilmarnock

The bridge over the Kilmarnock Water on Sandbed Street dates back to 1762, with later additions and repairs. It features a single span and a segmental arch made of coursed sandstone ashlar in varying colours, with inset ashlar voussoirs. The parapet is constructed from coursed tooled and droved rubble.

On the northeast and southwest elevations, the abutments are concealed by later coursed rubble and brick retaining walls from adjacent buildings by the riverside. The single segmental arch has slightly recessed ashlar voussoirs that break into the parapet, with coursed ashlar and rubble spandrels. A drip mould leads down to the slightly recessed rubble parapet, which is topped with flush rectangular copes.

The northwest and southeast elevations are bordered by a fairly narrow tarmac road, which connects Sandbed Street to the junction of Strand and Bank Streets.
