Description

30-34 Bank Street in Kilmarnock is an earlier 19th century, three-storey, five-bay rectangular-plan tenement. The building features painted ashlar stone with a late 20th century rusticated stone shop front. The upper elevation is framed by giant pilasters, while the original ground floor band course is partially hidden by shop signs. The first-floor windows have painted ashlar architraves and entablatures.

On the northwest (principal) elevation, the ground floor is divided into three sections. No. 26 on the left has three windows with an entrance door to the right and a modern shop sign above. No. 28 features a timber entrance door to the properties above. No. 30 has a pair of glazed doors with windows on either side, along with a modern shop sign above. The upper storeys are regularly fenestrated with architraved surrounds on the first floor and projecting sills on the second floor.

The northeast and southwest elevations are adjacent to a two-storey building to the northeast and a higher three-storey property (No. 36-40 Bank Street) to the southwest.

The southeast (rear) elevation was not visible as of 2001. The upper floors have 12-pane timber sash and case windows, while the ground floor features modern fixed plate glass windows with a central arched astragal and etched glass below. The roof is piended with grey slate, and painted cast-iron rainwater goods are partially concealed by a parapet. A former wallhead stack has been removed.

Inside, the modern ground floor houses a public house called the Goldberry Arms and a coffee shop named The Coffee Club. A central door leads to two residential floors above, which were not seen as of 2001.
