Dounans And Gates, 5 Arnhall Drive, Dundee

Dounans and Gates, located at 5 Arnhall Drive in Dundee, is a two-storey brick-built structure designed by W W Friskin around 1935. The building features a harled cube shape with a brick base and projecting brick courses beneath the eaves.

On the west elevation, there is an off-centre triple light on the ground floor, with a roundel to the left and two tripartite windows above. The south elevation has small single lights. The north elevation includes an entrance with a roll-moulded ashlar surround situated in the re-entrant angle of an advanced bay, along with a triple light on the first floor and a flat roof. The east elevation features a cantilevered balcony on the first floor, which has modern railings in the northeast re-entrant angle.

The building is topped with a steep piended slate roof that meets at a central ridge stack. It also has sash and case windows. The property is enclosed by low brick walls and features inventive wrought-iron and tubular steel railings and gates.
