Description

Dunholme House, located at 512 Perth Road in Dundee, was designed by Thomas Martin Cappon and completed in 1907. This villa features snecked, squared rubble construction with ashlar dressings and Art Nouveau details.

On the south elevation, the building is three stories high, reflecting the fall of the ground, and has three bays. The central section includes bipartite windows topped with a keystoned open segmental pediment, while the gabled end bays feature canted windows on both the ground and first floors, and tripartite windows on the second floor.

The north elevation consists of two stories and a basement, highlighted by an advanced gabled wing. This wing has a tripartite window on the ground floor, accompanied by a consoled corniced door, and a canted timber oriel window on brackets on the first floor. The main entrance is situated under an open segmental pedimented hood, with a bowed tripartite window and a dated pediment above it. To the left, there is another tripartite window, and a large stair window is positioned above.

The house features a mutule eaves cornice and has piended and gabled slate roofs. The wallhead is constructed of rubble, and there are off-centre ridge stacks. The windows are sash and case style, with 4- and 6-pane upper sections and single-pane lower sections on the south and north gables. Additionally, there are small-paned casements to the left of the north elevation.

The property is also marked by square pyramidal-capped gatepiers and a boundary wall that steps over a segmental pedimented pedestrian gate.
