Description
Claremount, located at 24 Kenilworth Road in Bridge of Allan, was built in 1876. This building features a single-storey attic and basement, with a two-storey attic and basement on the south side due to the slope of the ground. The exterior is constructed from snecked rubble. The north front has two bipartite windows and a central round-arched doorpiece with pilasters, accessed by railed steps leading to an area with good cast-iron balustrades. There are three round-arched gabled dormers, although one has been altered to include a door on the right, accompanied by an unfortunate modern fire escape.
On the south front, there is a tall round-arched stair window situated between canted bays across three floors, along with two round-arched gabled dormers. Each gable is flanked by two modern dormers next to the chimney. The roof is slated with a piended and platformed design. Additionally, there is a late two-storey harled extension on the west gable that is of poor design.
