Description
The Kennels, located at Lauriston, The Knapp, was built around 1879. It is a single-storey building with an attic and has a rectangular plan, constructed from dark rubble with ashlar dressings. The building features some four-pane sash and case windows, bracketed eaves, and plain bargeboards with rounded ends. A large half-timbered dormer on the south elevation includes a tripartite lattice-paned window and decorative bargeboards. There are also two brick ridge stacks.
On the south elevation, there is a central door with a multi-pane fanlight and adjoining multi-pane windows, with an additional window to the left and another door with a fanlight to the right. The prominent half-timbered dormer is situated above this central door. The west gable has two windows and a door to the right. The north elevation features a large central door, with doors to both the left and right and a window on the far right, as well as a nepus gable with a hopper window. The east gable is blank and forms part of the eastern boundary wall, which is a flat-coped rubble wall. The interior has not been seen.
