Rossie Estate Sawmill, The Knapp

The Rossie Estate Sawmill, built in the mid-19th century, features a launder trough dated 1912. This single-storey and basement T-plan sawmill is constructed on sloping ground, using dark rubble with stugged red ashlar dressings and a piended slate roof. There is also a timber addition with a corrugated metal roof. A large iron frame overshot waterwheel with timber buckets is located on the west elevation.

On the east elevation, the gable is advanced to the centre, featuring a large sliding door, while a bay to the right is recessed and has a full-width timber opening. To the left, there is a pentice-roofed timber addition with various lattice-paned windows.

The south elevation has a gable on the left and a full-width timber opening at the principal floor. To the right, there is an addition with a large sliding door leading to the basement and an 8-pane window at the principal floor.

The west elevation showcases the waterwheel at the centre, covered by a corrugated metal pentice roof canopy, with a concrete launder trough to the left, inscribed "RP 1912 WS," and a lattice-paned window to the right, along with a large rooflight.

The north elevation is blank and built into the fall of the ground.
