Description
The Mill House, located at New Mill Of Knapp, is a late 18th-century, two-storey mill house with an earlier 19th-century first floor. It has a rectangular plan and is built on sloping ground. The construction is of rubble with dry-dash on the north elevation and east gable, featuring ashlar dressings and brick end stacks on corniced bases. The eaves are shallow and bracketed, and there are plain cast-iron rainwater goods.
On the south elevation, there is a partial boulder base course, with sash and case windows that have three panes on the top and two panes on the bottom. The ground floor windows have chamfered jambs, while the first-floor windows are stugged and margined. There is also a chamfered doorcase. The north elevation features eight-pane casement windows.
The south elevation includes a central door, with a window to the left and right, and three windows on the first floor. There are narrow round-headed windows in the central wallhead gable. The left return gable has a lean-to with a modern upper floor, while the right return gable is blank.
The interior of the building does not contain any features of special interest.
