Woodlands, Haywood Road, Moffat

Woodlands is a large villa built around 1875, featuring an irregular plan and Scottish Baronial detailing. The building has two storeys and an attic, constructed from snecked rubble with polished ashlar dressings and quoins, while the rear is painted.

On the east elevation, there are two outer, advanced crowstepped gables, with a corbelled turret at the first floor on the southeast side. The northeast corner features a two-storey circular tower topped with a balustrade above the cornice, and crowstepped gablets at the canted angle of the end bay behind. There is a porch in the re-entrant angle and a four-light canted window in the south bay.

The west elevation has two outer crowstepped gabled bays, with a central door flanked by sidelights. The windows have blocked margins, and there is a lower two-storey projection with wallhead stacks stepped into the gables, all beneath a slate roof.
