Description
5 Dundonald Road in Kilmarnock is a 2-storey, 3-bay Scots Baronial villa built in 1868, featuring a shallow L-plan and constructed from broken coursed sandstone. The principal elevation includes a gabled bay that is advanced to the left, with a finialled projecting end bay. It has a crowstepped gablehead and a 2-storey canted bay window that is corbelled out to a crowstepped gablet with a finial. The entrance porch is located in the re-entrant angle of the central bay, topped by a pointed, crowstepped gable with a single window above. The right bay has a bipartite window at ground floor and a single window at the first floor, along with a crowstepped and finialled dormer gablehead featuring a cill mould below.
The north elevation showcases a crowstepped gable with a single window at the first floor. The south elevation also has a crowstepped gable, which is regularly fenestrated on the outer left and right sides. The villa features 2-pane sash and case windows, a slate roof, and crowstepped gables, with stacks at the north and south gableheads topped with octagonal cans.
The interior was not seen in 2001. The property has dwarf boundary walls at the front with modern iron railings, as well as high, coped garden walls. There is a one-storey outbuilding with crowstepped gables, which includes a small window in the left gable and a timber door in the right gable.
