Hunter's Croft, Haywood Road, Moffat

Hunter's Croft is a two-storey, double pile villa built around 1875. It features a symmetrical gabled entrance front and an irregular three-bay garden elevation. The building is constructed from snecked whinstone with sandstone dressings. On the north elevation, there are two wide gables with simple cornice bipartites at the ground level, along with a narrow recessed central bay that includes a projecting porch. The east elevation has a bold southern gabled bay that slightly advances, featuring a two-storey canted projection that is corbelled over the first floor and topped with an unusual stepped gable head. The two northern bays have ground and first floor windows, which are linked by dressed stone. The ground floor windows are corbelled, and the first floor windows have chamfered angles and gabled heads. The building is topped with coped stacks, octagonal flues, and a slate roof.
