Description
7 Main Street in Elrig is an early 19th century single-storey cottage with three bays arranged in a 2-1 configuration. The exterior is made of painted rubble and features narrow projecting cills and a boulder base course.
On the west elevation facing Main Street, there is a door located at the center, flanked by small windows in the outer bays. The south elevation is gabled and blank. The north elevation is attached to the adjacent cottage, No 9 Main Street, known as Bessie's Byre, which has a higher pitched roof.
The windows have plate glass glazing in timber sash and case frames. The south gable has a coped skew, and there are painted rubble gablehead stacks. The roof is covered with modern concrete tiles, and cobblestones are laid in front of the cottage.
