Description
Birch Cottage, located at 13 Main Street in Elrig, dates from the early to earlier 19th century. This single-storey and attic cottage features three bays, with a layout of one bay on the left and two on the right. The exterior is made of painted rubble and includes narrow projecting cills.
On the west elevation facing Main Street, there is a modern door positioned at the center, flanked by small windows in the outer bays. A long box dormer window is also present. The south and north elevations are both gabled and blank.
The windows are timber sash and case with plate glass glazing. The roof is covered with grey slates and features red sandstone coped skews, along with painted rubble gablehead stacks and a red sandstone ridge.
