Description
20 Main Street in Elrig is a single-storey, three-bay cottage dating from the early to earlier 19th century. It is the last building in a terraced row. The east elevation facing Main Street is harled, while the north elevation is made of washed rubble, featuring narrow projecting cills.
On the east elevation, there is a modern door with a two-pane fanlight at the center, with windows located in the outer bays. The south elevation is attached to No 18 Main Street, which is listed separately.
The north elevation is gabled and blank, with plate glass glazing in timber sash and case windows. It has a red sandstone coped skew on the north side, and painted rubble stacks that are shared with the south elevation, with a gablehead stack on the north. The roof is covered with purple slates and has a red sandstone ridge. Additionally, there are two modern rooflights on the east pitch.
