Description
24 Main Street in Elrig is a traditional three-bay house built in the mid to later 19th century, likely after 1848. It is two stories tall, with the first floor breaking the eaves, and constructed from painted rubble with projecting cills.
On the east elevation facing Main Street, there is a modern door located at the center. The outer bays feature windows on both floors, with broad gabled dormerheads above the first-floor windows.
The south elevation has a window on the left side at ground level. The north elevation also has a window on the right side at ground level.
The west elevation includes a single-storey lean-to addition that runs the full length of the elevation. This side features timber sash and case windows with four-pane glazing. The roof is covered with purple slates and has red sandstone ridging, while the gablehead stacks are made of painted rubble with red sandstone copes.
