Description

1 Victoria Street in Newton Stewart is an early 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay symmetrical house that is set back and below the main street level. The exterior features smooth rendered walls with painted raised angle and window margins. There are steps leading down to a central entrance, which includes engaged Doric columns that support a pediment above a four-panelled door and a fanlight. The windows are all single light, with the one above the door being blind. The remaining windows are sash and case style with two-pane plate glass glazing. A simple eaves cornice completes the roofline.

The house has coped end stacks with octagonal cans and has been re-roofed with modern concrete tiles. Inside, there are non-fielded panel shutters. Decorative iron railings surround the steps and area.
