Description

Albert House is an earlier 19th-century cottage located at 39 Albert Street in Newton Stewart. It features a symmetrical three-bay design and is built on steeply sloping ground, presenting as a single storey and attic to the street, while appearing as two storeys at the rear. The cottage is constructed from pinned squared granite with polished raised granite margins.

Access is provided by steps leading to a central doorway that has an architrave and cavetto reveals, featuring a modern door with a fanlight above. The windows are single light, sash and case style, with a 2-pane plate-glass glazing pattern. The roof includes a pair of canted piend-roofed dormers and a rooflight, with additional windows located on the left gable return. The building has end skews and skewputts, with coped end stacks. The front roof is covered with graded slate, while the rear is finished with concrete tiles. The rear elevation is made of painted rubble and includes a single-storey wing.
