41, 43 Albert Street, Newton Stewart

41 and 43 Albert Street in Newton Stewart is an earlier 19th-century building that was originally a pair of 2-bay cottages but has been converted into a single 3-bay cottage. It is situated on steeply sloping ground, appearing as a single-storey and attic structure from the street, while it is 2-storey at the rear. The exterior is constructed from squared rubble with raised margins, featuring former paired doorways; the left doorway is now blocked, and the right has a modern door. There are single windows on either side of the doors, which are sash and case with plate glass and a 4-pane glazing pattern on the ground floor.

The building has tall coped end stacks with decorative fluted cans and end skews. It features a pair of canted piended dormers with bracketed eaves, and it is topped with good graded slate roofs and a sandstone ridge. The rear elevation includes a 2-storey projecting bay. Additionally, there are steps leading down to a basement door on the left side of the property, with roll-moulded lintels and cills to the left.
