35, 37, 39 Thistle Street, Edinburgh

35, 37, 39 Thistle Street is a tenement building dating from around 1775, with later alterations made in the 19th century at the ground level. The structure is three stories tall with an attic and features seven bays, built on a site that slopes down to the north at the rear. The exterior is made of coursed rubble.

At the center of the building, there is a doorway leading to a common stair, which is flanked on the right by a three-bay shop that has modern canted glazing. To the left, there is a public bar from the later 19th century, which has a corniced rendered finish and an arcaded central tripartite window flanked by arched doorways. The building also features a pair of tripartite piend-roofed dormers.

The rear elevation is irregular, consisting of four stories and four bays, with two central bays that are gabled and have an apex stack. The windows are timber sash and case with 12 panes. The building has ashlar coped skews and stone stacks, which have been rebuilt on the west side and harled on the east side, topped with grey slates.

The interior was not seen in 1995. There are boundary walls made of coped rubble that form a screen wall to the rear area.
