Priory Lodge, 8 The Loan, South Queensferry

Priory Lodge, located at 8 The Loan in South Queensferry, is a Gothic villa built around 1870. It is a single-storey building with an attic, featuring two bays and a south wing. The exterior is constructed from snecked rubble with ashlar margins.

On the west elevation, there is a shouldered doorway recessed to the outer right, accompanied by two-light windows with cusped heads in the ground floor bays. The attic has two half-timbered gablet dormers painted black with white tympana, also featuring two-light windows with cusped heads, straight barge boards, diagonally boarded tympana, and ball finials.

The north elevation was not visible in 2000. The east elevation includes a central timber door, with the first floor painted white and three regularly spaced windows. There is a brick extension painted white on the right side, with a forestair leading to the door and a flanking window.

The south elevation features a demi-octagonal projection with a door that has a fanlight on the west flank, and a single window with a cusped head in the left bay.

The building has modern PVC glazing that mimics the original pattern, with upper sashes consisting of 12 panes and lower sashes with 2 panes. The roof is covered with purple slate and includes finials on the ridges, a central ashlar stack, and decorative cast-iron rainwater goods. The interior was not visible in 2000.
