33 Mansionhouse Road, The Grange, Edinburgh

This building, located at 33 Mansionhouse Road in The Grange, Edinburgh, dates from around 1852 and is a 2-storey, 2-bay villa with a single-storey service wing attached to the south. It is constructed from squared and snecked sandstone rubble, featuring stugged ashlar on the west elevation, along with base and blocking courses, a cornice, and architraved windows.

The west (entrance) elevation has a later added blockish porch that features an architraved doorway, a simple cornice, and a blocking course. The entrance includes a 2-leaf panelled door with a 3-pane fanlight above it, and there is a single window on the first floor above the porch. The remaining bay has single windows, and there is also a single window in the service wing.

The villa has 4-pane sash and case windows and a grey slate piended roof, which is complemented by two shouldered and coped wallhead stacks with moulded octagonal cans.

The interior was not seen in 1990. The property is enclosed by a low coped rubble boundary wall along the street, which rises at the carriage entrance, and there is a pedestrian gateway next to the service wing.
