Description

Circa 1860, in the style of David Bryce. 2-storey, 3-bay L-plan villa, subdivided. Sandstone rubble; squared and coursed stugged ashlar E (entrance) elevation. Base course; dressed quoins; chamfered reveals; projecting eaves.

E (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: gabled timber porch with finial, in re-entrant angle, supported by 3 Jacobean piers; panelled door; plate glass fanlight. Advanced gabled bay flanking to right, with canted window swept to gablehead; square blank tablet set in gable; single window flanking to left at ground floor, with dormer above.

N ELEVATION: blank.

S ELEVATION: small round-arched window at 1st floor; sensitive single storey extension (1985).

Plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate gabled roof (M-gabled to S with gablehead stacks, and a wallhead stack to N); moulded octagonal cans.

INTERIOR: richly decorated plaster cornice in dining room.

BOUNDARY WALLS AND IRONWORK: low ashlar coped boundary wall to street surmounted by wrought iron railings with cast 2-leaf spearheads; high ashlar coped boundary walls surrounding house.
