Description
3 Mayfield Terrace is a villa built around 1860 in the style of David Bryce. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure made of coursed sandstone ashlar with polished dressings. The building features overhanging bracketed timber eaves, bargeboards, and chamfered reveals.
On the south elevation, the central bay has an angled open porch supported by Jacobean style piers, with geometric timber railings, fish scale slates, and an obelisk finial. The porch leads to a timber panelled door topped by a plate glass fanlight, with a single window above on the first floor. To the outer right, there is an advanced gabled bay with a full-height canted window that is splayed to a square at the eaves. The outer right bay also has single windows on both floors, with the first-floor window breaking the eaves in a gablet. There is a recessed single-storey wing adjoining to the outer right.
The villa has two-pane timber sash and case windows and a graded grey slate roof, featuring corniced gablehead stacks and moulded octagonal cans.
The interior was not seen in 1997. The property is enclosed by low coped squared and snecked rubble boundary walls along the street, with high coped rubble mutual walls.
