33 Blacket Place, Edinburgh

31 Blacket Place in Edinburgh is a pair of classical houses built in the mid to late 19th century. These two-storey buildings, with a basement, have a symmetrical four-bay rectangular plan. They are constructed from polished sandstone ashlar, featuring a channelled finish at the ground level and a droved finish at the basement, while the sides and rear are made of stugged rubble. The design includes a base course, a dividing band course, a cornice, and a blocking course, with architraved windows on the first floor.

The west elevation, which faces the entrance, has steps leading up to doorcases located in the outer left and right bays. These doorcases are flanked by fluted Doric columns in front of pilasters that support an entablature. The entrance features panelled timber doors with plate glass fanlights above. The first floor has bipartite windows above the doorcases, while the intermediate bays have tripartite windows on both floors. The basement windows are also tripartite and are protected by decorative ironwork. To the right, there is a small single-storey wing that contains a pedestrian doorway, and to the left, a single-storey wing adjoining No 29 has two pedestrian doorways.

The houses feature 2-pane sash and case windows and have a grey slate piended roof with corniced mutual and paired wallhead stacks. The property is bordered by low coped boundary walls along the street. The interior was not seen in 1996.
