29 Blacket Place, Edinburgh

27 Blacket Place is a pair of classical houses built in the mid to late 19th century. The buildings are two stories high with a basement and have a symmetrical four-bay rectangular plan. They are constructed from polished sandstone ashlar, with a channelled finish at the ground level, and stugged rubble on the sides and rear. Architectural features include a base course, a dividing band course, a cornice, and a blocking course, along with architraved windows on the first floor.

The west entrance elevation features steps leading up to doorcases located in the outer left and right bays. These doorcases are adorned with fluted Doric columns in front of pilasters that support an entablature. The doors are six-panelled timber, topped with plate glass fanlights. Above, there are bipartite windows on the first floor, while the intermediate bays have tripartite windows on both floors. The basement features tripartite fenestration with decorative ironwork. To the right, there is a single-storey wing adjoining No 31, which contains two pedestrian doorways, including one leading to No 27.

The windows are two-pane timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a piended design, featuring a variety of corniced and coped mutual and paired wallhead stacks.

The property is bordered by low coped boundary walls along the street. The interior was not seen in 1996.
