60 Blacket Place, Edinburgh

62 Blacket Place is a double villa built around 1860 in the style of David Bryce. It is a two-storey building with a six-bay rectangular plan, constructed from coursed stugged sandstone ashlar with polished dressings. The villa features a base course, overhanging bracketed timber eaves, bargeboards, gablets above the first-floor windows, and chamfered reveals.

The west (entrance) elevation has pitched roof open timber porches supported by Jacobean style piers at the second and fifth bays. It includes panelled doors with plate glass fanlights above, and single windows above the doors on the first floor. There are single windows in the two central bays, and full height canted windows that sweep to square at the eaves in the outer left and right bays, with dividing cornices and square blank tablets set in the gableheads.

The villa has four and two pane timber sash and case windows, a graded grey slate roof, and a mansard roof at the rear with a corniced wallhead and mutual stacks. The mutual stack features moulded octagonal cans, and there are timber obelisk finials on No 60.

The interiors were not seen in 1997. The property is enclosed by low coped boundary walls along the street.
