Description

Circa 1860, style of James Campbell Walker. 2-storey, 3-bay villa (subdivided into 2 in 1956). Pinkish hammer-dressed sandstone, squared and snecked; cream coloured dressings; chamfered reveals. Base, dividing and eaves courses.

W ELEVATION: hoodmoulded single window (formerly entrance) at ground floor centre; single windows above and flanking to left; canted bay swept with carvings to square flanking to right; gablehead slit window above; sone finial. Distictive use of horizontal and vertical banding on door and window surrounds, and on quoins.

N ELEVATION: window at 1st floor.

S ELEVATION: blank; later entrance to ground floor and forestairs to 1st floor, with further additions behind.

4-pain and 2-pane sash and case windows. Grey slate double-pitched roof; ashlar coped gables; brtakceted skewputts; corniced end stacks; octagonal cans with additional caps; moulded eaves gutter; modern rainwater goods.

INTERIORS: not seen 1990.

Low ashlar coped boundary wall to street, rising at gateway to S. 2 detached garages (1829 and 1972).
