Description
This building at 261 Perth Road in Dundee is a two-storey gabled villa, constructed around 1850. It features coursed rubble walls with ashlar dressings. The south elevation is asymmetrical, showcasing a segmental arched door located in the left re-entrant angle, with a porch that has gables to the south and west. The main bay is advanced and includes a bipartite window on the ground floor, a bracketed cornice, and a window on the first floor that is margined and has a keystone. To the right, there is a canted bay with a slate roof and a flanking single light. Above, the gable has an enlarged window, and there is a gabletted single light in the west re-entrant angle. A later dormer has been added.
The villa is topped with gabled slate roofs that have overhanging eaves, although the finials have been removed. The porch is covered with fish-scale slates, and there are corniced stacks. The windows are sash and case, with a two-pane glazing pattern on the ground floor and upper case lying panes on the first floor, although one window has been replaced with a modern version. The property is enclosed by high rubble-built boundary walls, which feature coping that runs over a margined gateway.
