Broomcraig, Shore Road, Cove And Kilcreggan

Broomcraig is a mid-19th century, two-storey villa with a gabled, asymmetrical plan. The building features squared and snecked sandstone with polished sandstone margins and dressings, while the side and rear elevations are harled. Notable architectural details include a base course, raised quoins, overhanging eaves, and exposed rafters.

The main southwest elevation consists of a two-storey block with a single-storey bay on the outer left. An advanced gabled bay features a bowed window and a decorative cast-iron balcony, with a tripartite window on the first floor. To the right, there is a gabled porch in the re-entrant angle, which has a two-leaf half-glazed door and a blind window on the outer right return. The single-storey bay to the outer left includes a bipartite window.

On the southeast elevation, there is a broad harled gable on the outer right with a porch to the left and a gabled dormer above. Windows are present at both the ground and first floors to the right of the gable, while a single-storey block on the outer right features a bipartite window. The windows are plate glass sash and case. The roof is covered with purple/grey slate and includes a broad wallhead stack at the rear, octagonal cans, and apex stacks at the single-storey blocks.

The property is also defined by its gatepiers, which have stop-chamfered arrises and trefoil-headed caps, and a whinstone boundary wall with heavy harl pointing and quartz coping.
