Description
Garfield House, located at 128 Perth Road in Blairgowrie, is a two-storey, three-bay gabled villa built around 1880. The exterior features stugged squared rubble with rusticated quoins and ashlar margins. It has architraved and pedimented segmental-headed openings, hoodmoulds, and stone mullions.
On the west elevation, the central bay at ground level includes a flat-roofed porch in the re-entrant angle, which incorporates an arcaded tripartite window, a canted light to the right, and a door on the return to the right. The door is part-glazed and has a moulded, ball-finialled circular pediment above it. To the right, there is a hoodmoulded bipartite window with a similar pediment, and above it, a single hoodmoulded window in the gablehead, also with a ball finial. The broad advanced gable to the left features a flat-roofed canted window at ground level and a hoodmoulded bipartite window (pedimented as above) in the gablehead.
The north elevation has its ground floor detail obscured but features a single window at the first floor. The windows are timber sash and case with 4-pane and plate glass glazing patterns. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped ashlar stacks with a full complement of square cans. The eaves overhang and are adorned with decorative bargeboarding.
The property is enclosed by low saddleback-coped boundary walls, which include inset decorative cast-iron railings, two-leaf gates, and a square-section coped pier.
