Description

1930s. 2-storey, 3-bay Art Deco style YWCA building. Harl and brick. Brick base course and eaves course.

SW (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical. Slightly advanced bay to centre with step up to broad deep-set timber door at ground, cantilevered balcony with ironwork railing and original French window at 1st floor breaking eaves into blocking course with 'YWCA' in ironwork lettering. Flanking bays with horizontal tripartite window to each floor.

SE ELEVATION: gabled bay to left with 2 small windows at ground right and single window above, lower block to right with 3 windows.

Original horizontal 9-pane glazing pattern to Crittal windows and 6-pane glazing pattern to French window at SW; replacement small-pane glazing elsewhere. Grey slates. Brick stack with cans. Deeply overhanging eaves; plain bargeboarding.

INTERIOR: timber-balustered dog-leg staircase; hall with Art Deco door handles retained to 2-leaf panelled timber doors; steel tie-beam roof and stage.
