Description
1-2 Bell Stane in South Queensferry is a two-storey corner building dated 1879. It features a two-bay projecting eastern section and a single bay western section. The building is constructed of coursed rubble with a painted eastern wing and ashlar dressings. It has a base course and a fascia at the first floor.
On the south (principal) elevation, the entrance door is located in the left bay of the eastern wing, accompanied by a four-pane fanlight. There is a now-unused flanking door and a single window in the right bay, with a bipartite window above. To the left, there is a carved datestone featuring an owl. The western section has bipartite windows at both the ground and first floors.
The western elevation includes a single window at both the ground and first floors in the left bay, along with a garage extension at the rear. The northern elevation is adjacent to another building. The eastern elevation has a single window at both the ground and first floors in the right bay.
The building has modern glazing and a grey slate roof, with a red slate diamond in the center of the eastern section roof. It features straight skews, a coped stack at the eastern gablehead, and a short stack at the east.
