Description

Barone Cottage is a near-symmetrical house built in the late 18th to early 19th century, featuring a single storey with an attic and four bays. It has a single bay addition on the outer right and a recessed single bay addition on the outer left. A later piended porch is supported by coursed sandstone piers at the centre, and there is a piended single bay addition offset to the left of centre at the rear. The exterior is finished in whitewashed harl with painted surrounds around the openings, and the ground floor has lying-pane glazing.

On the east (entrance) elevation, there is a timber panelled door offset to the left of centre, with a single window in the outer left bay and single windows in two bays to the right. The outer left and right bays feature three-light canted dormers, and there are single windows in the additions on the outer left and right.

The west (rear) elevation includes a piended projection offset to the left of centre, which has a glazed timber door in the re-entrant angle to the right and a single window in the bay to the left. There is also a single window centred in the re-entrant angle to the left, with single windows in two bays to the right of centre and a single window in the outer left bay.

The windows are 8-pane timber sash and case types with lying-panes on the ground floor, while the dormers have 4-pane and 2-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with graded grey slate and features raised stone skews, rendered ridge and apex stacks, and circular cans. The interior was not seen in 1996.
